A Retreat with Deepak Ram

This is a rare opportunity to study music with North Indian Classical
Musician Deepak Ram.This special weekend retreat will focus on sound and
music as vehicles for the journey within.
"The flute of interior time is played whether
we hear it or not." - Kabir
The program will include basic yoga postures accompanied by prescribed
mantras (Sanskrit chants), concentration (dharana) and meditation (dhyana)
on Ragas (Indian melodic forms, which are prescribed for specific times
of day), kirtan (chanting of spiritual songs and chants), talks and discussions
on Nada Brahma (the path of realizing God through sound and music), and
a concert of North Indian music featuring Bansuri (Flute) and Tabla (Drum).
Deepak Ram is a senior disciple of world-renowned bansuri maestro Pandit
Hariprasad Chaurasia. Deepak has received acclaim for the Best Instrumental
Album, Searching for Satyam, South African Music Awards, in 2000. He has
performed in many countries around the world. He has been Artist in Residence
at Mount Madonna Center, bringing his inspired playing of the flute to
individual and group instruction and to magical concerts. The London Guardian,
reviewing his work, has heralded "phenomenal flute playing and (an)
accomplished composer."
