Deepak Ram completes “Beauty In Diversity”

Deepak Ram, North Indian bansuri maestro, has completed recording of his next release on Golden Horn. Titled “Beauty in Diversity," this recording consists of a total of 10 tracks, including 7 new compositions by Deepak and arrangements of 3 traditional Indian pieces. Other musicians on this recording include Ian Herman (Deepak’s band-mate from the South African band Tananas) on drums and percussion, Daniel Robbins on double & electric bass, and Sujata Ghanekar on vocals. “Beauty in Diversity” is scheduled for release in September 2002. While waiting for this release, you might want to check out Deepak’s first release on Golden Horn, “Prasad” a recording of five ragas with Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri on tabla.

Barbaros Erköse coming to the U.S. with the Anouar Braham Trio

Barbaros Erköse, the famous Turkish clarinetist, will be touring with the Anouar Brahem Trio in Fall 2002. The Anouar Brahem Trio consists of Anouar Brahem on oud, Barbaros Erköse on clarinet, and Lassad Hosni on bendir & percussions. This tour will be supporting their latest CD on ECM Records, “Astrakan Café.” You can also hear Barbaros Erköse on “Lingo Lingo” a Golden Horn release from 2000.
