Many of our listeners are
familiar with the music of Ahenk Duo from their two recordings
on Golden Horn label and their live performances worldwide.
Ahenk Duo has been presenting music from Turkish and Ottoman
repertoires, especially works and makams that have not been
performed widely. Their studio as well as live performances
feature composed works as well as joint and solo taksims
(improvisations).
Golden Horn Quartet expands the duo format and adds two additional musicians. One of them is the ney
master Salih Bilgin. Steeped in the tradition, Salih Bilgin
is considered to be one of the leading exponents of ney (reed instrument)
music in this genre. His previous recordings include Neva, with Murat Aydemir on tanbur, on Golden Horn.
He has also performed all around the world as a member of different prestigious ensembles.
Golden Horn Quartet also features Fahrettin Yarkin on percussion.
Fahrettin has been at the forefront of Turkish classical
music for several decades. He has been a member of various
prestigious ensembles and has been instrumental in contemporary
projects on percussion.
